Talk on: initial contractual problems, how they formed and initial period of writing, having diversity in their music, writing slower songs, having their own identity as Audioslave, why they decided to get together, not writing political lyrics, friendships within band and rumours that they don't get on, still being involved in politics, Tom Morello on his guitar playing and how it has changed through working with Chris Cornell, when they realised that the band was going to work, reactions of former bandmates to new music. Including soundbites: Brad Wilk: "They walked in the room and Chris opened his mouth and started singing and there was a chemistry for all of us, and it is really hard to find that." Tom Morello: "We started jamming and we wrote 21 songs in the first 19 rehearsals. In the first month that we were acquainted we had almost 2 CD's worth of stuff together. We had never experienced any creative outburst like that." Chris Cornell: "It wasn't like I was an unknown quantity coming into a band that was established, they know what I write about and what my tendencies are lyrically and how I sing. And I knew what they were like stylistically and musically and our discussion was that we want to move forward and and do something that none of us have ever done before and make that the best thing that we have done as opposed to hopefully as good as. We definitely out our sights pretty high." Chris Cornell: "It has been 6 years since Soundgarden were together and six years is a long time. It is not a big part of my day when I get up in the morning, we are just having a great time being Audioslave and looking forward to a long future of being in that band. And whatever people think that will obviously transform. Maybe it will take a week, maybe it'll take a year but it isn't going to affect how we are or what we are doing." 3. And it was one of those things where I don't remember talking about too many other options for singles, we all were just 'Cochise' yeah." Tom Morello: "It is true that the residents of that area in San Fernando Valley called the local authorities wondering if there was a terrorist attack, which seemed a bit odd to me since the only thing around there is a barren dam and a 7-11.
