A closer look at the numbers indicates that the majority of the outages are in Cuyahoga County. Here are the outage figures from FirstEnergy as of 2:45 p.m. Thursday: -- Lakewood: 3,979 -- Olmsted Falls: 1,229 -- Olmsted Township: 1,663 Hinckley Township was also dealing with more than 400 power outages, which were caused by a semi that attempted to climb a steep incline, failed to do so and crashed into a power pole that knocked down electrical wires. At 6:34 p.m. Wednesday, Olmsted Township police posted on Facebook that the German Club (Donauschwaben's German-American Cultural Center) offered to serve as a cooling and hydration center. An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect in Northeast Ohio until 8 p.m. Friday, with the National Weather Service in Cleveland saying heat index values will be higher than 100 degrees.
