The power often did not simply go off, but instead would flicker for some time, and I was curious what the waveform looked like during these periods. So I set up a logging recorder to capture it, and this is what I got. Recording setup is a small power transformer (~2V output), through a few hundred ohm series resistor, into an input on a cheap USB mixer. Recorded in a loop at 22k 16bit using ALSA's "arecord" on a spare laptop. Audio download here. Feel free to use for whatever, just credit me: Notes: The lamp was simulated after the fact by replaying the recording through a big amplifier with the output set around 120V and the lamp connected in place of speakers. It's faithful to how the lights looked during the event though.
