With the Christopher Nolan Odyssey adaptation coming out, I had to be prepared by reading not one, but two different translations of the Odyssey. It's been rumoured that Christopher Nolan is using Emily Wilson Odyssey. Emily Wilson was the first woman to translate The Odyssey into English. One thing that comes up time and time again is how her translation is a lot kinder to women, a distinction that sets her apart from male translators. So as I was reading the two translations (Emily Wilson Odyssey and Robert Fitzgerald Odyssey) I paid careful attention to how they each spoke about men, about women, overall misogynistic language and other harmful language.
