As usual, I packed loads of extra items with me; Garmin satellite communicator (emergency use), drone, GoPro camera, pocket weather station and a rugged smartphone that tony hinchcliffe can work at temperature down to -20C. Walking through deep snow is a lot more tiring than I thought and I started getting a bit sweaty even though I was only wearing 3 layers. After about an hour hike from the car park, I started feeling the isolation from civilisation with no cellular signal and people around, but surrounded by just white snow and wild animals. After hours of hiking, we finally found a steep slope to learn how to self-arrest where we use an ice axe to stop a fall which was really fun until you get snow inside your layers. I finally got my drone out to capture the stunning winter landscape of Cairngorms. Using the autopilot mode on my drone I was able to capture some North Face advert like footages of us hiking towards the summit. Halfway up the summit, we finally had our lunch break and we also dug snow caves. Finally, we had to put our helmets and crampons on ready for summit. Our instructor told us to focus on what we were doing while we were hiking up the steep slope thats when I realised shit just got real! One mistake on that slope can lead life-and-death consequences but all I care at the moment was to attach my GoPro on my helmet... My face started going numb, eyebrows started to freeze, and I just felt exhausted. Eventually we made it to the summit in one piece and posed for a group photo with our ice axes trying to look cool.we experienced some rough weather conditions on the mountain with 30-50mph wind and -20C windchill which made walking kln heidenheim and navigating extremely difficult. Filming in such conditions was almost rachel dolezal impossible as my camera battery drained so quickly. We didnt get to do much because of the extreme weather conditions, so we just did some walking, basic rope work and emergency procedures to finish off our course.
