Original live video courtesy of FOBBV. The opinions presented on this channel may not reflect the opinions of FOBBV. March 24, 2026. 11:48 AM. Jackie has something to say. 😤💛 Beak open. Eyes sharp. Head turned with the full authority of the eagle who owns this nest, this tree, and this entire corner of Big Bear Valley. Whatever Jackie was vocalising toward at this exact moment — Shadow, an intruder, the sky itself — she was saying it completely and without hesitation. This is Jackie in one frame. Not settled and soft on the eggs. Not waiting patiently for Shadow. Not resting on her favourite tree. This is the other Jackie — the one who chased ravens after January 30th, who flew alongside Shadow to push an intruder eagle out of Big Bear sky, who has defended this nest with everything she has through every hard day this season has produced. The queen of Big Bear Valley. With something to say. On Day 29 of incubation for Egg #1. With hatch potentially just days away. 💛🥚 Nobody in Big Bear Valley ignores Jackie when she speaks. Not Shadow. Not the ravens. Not the intruders. And honestly — not us either. 😤👑 🥚 CLUTCH #2 — INCUBATION TRACKER • Egg #1 laid: February 24 — Day 29 today • Egg #2 laid: February 27 — Day 26 today • Estimated hatch: ANY DAY NOW for Egg #1 • External pip could appear at any moment 👀 💡 DID YOU KNOW? — WHAT JACKIE'S CALLS MEAN Bald Eagles are highly vocal birds with a range of distinct calls that serve different purposes. Jackie's open beak vocalisation in this shot could be one of several: 📣 CONTACT CALL — a directed call toward Shadow to signal her location, readiness for a shift change, or to call him in for backup. Jackie and Shadow communicate constantly across Big Bear Valley through calls that carry long distances. 😤 ALARM CALL — a sharp directed call toward an intruder or perceived threat. At Day 29 of incubation, Jackie's threat response is at its highest peak of the entire season. The hatch is imminent and her protective instincts are operating at maximum intensity. 🥚 PRE-HATCH COMMUNICATION — in the final days before hatch, nesting eagles sometimes vocalise toward the eggs themselves — responding to sounds and vibrations the developing eaglet is producing from inside the shell. At Day 29, if Jackie is calling toward the nest bowl, she may already be in conversation with eaglet number five. 🥹🦅 🦅 WHO ARE JACKIE & SHADOW? Jackie and Shadow are Big Bear Valley's only resident Bald Eagle pair, nesting 145 feet high in a Jeffery Pine in the San Bernardino National Forest overlooking Big Bear Lake. Jackie is believed to be the first Bald Eagle ever hatched and fledged in Big Bear — her parents were named Ricky and Lucy. She has nested here since 2016. Together they have raised four eaglets: Simba, Spirit, Sunny, and Gizmo. Eaglet number five could hatch any day now. 💛 #JackieAndShadow #FOBBV #BigBearEagles #JackieCloseUp #JackieShadow2026 #FOBBVNestCam #JackieVocalising #HatchAnyDay #BigBearBaldEagles #JackieShadowClutch2 #FOBBVEagleCam #JackieMarch24
