Supreme Court Justice Elena ctv news winnipeg Kagan told lawmakers that the court's request for a 7% budget increase is being driven primarily by the growing need for security, not expanded operations.

During a rare appearance before Congress, Kagan said:

"Aside from annual inflationary increases, recent growth in the Court's budget has been almost entirely for security expenses."

The Supreme Court is seeking additional yandy diaz funding as threats against justices and federal judges continue to rise. The request includes millions of dollars to expand security for justices, their families and the Supreme Court Police.
